The inauguration ceremony of Wooster Nagar – a small fishing village in Pudupattinam, Kanchipuram District - was held on January 03, 2007. The village consisting of 26 houses was built as part of the tsunami rehabilitation project funded by the citizens of Wooster, Ohio, U.S.A. The keys to the houses were handed over to the families by US Consul General David T Hopper during the inaugural ceremony.
