CPREEC has developed a system for Indian schools to monitor the environmental performance of each school on a monthly basis. This innovative scheme for schools is user-friendly and totally voluntary. The environmental monitoring system helps the school to set environmental standards for students and thereby educate the community. The Green school initiative has been launched in four cities – Chennai, Ooty, Bangalore and Hyderabad.
In Chennai, the initiative was inaugurated on October 12, 2007 by Shri.M.Kutralingam, I.A.S., Secretary, Department of School Education, Government of Tamilnadu. Shri.K.S.Neelakantan, I.F.S, Director, Department of Environment, Government of Tamilnadu presided over the function. |
